Overview
A hillside villa where the interior is a continuation of the terrace.
Floor levels, stone and colour run uninterrupted from the olive grove into the living room.
Design challenges
- 01A 42°C summer and a brief that asked for no visible air conditioning.
- 02Salt air degrading conventional metal finishes.
- 03Twelve metres of glazing with no acceptable place for a frame.
Final outcome
Passive cooling through cross-ventilation and thermal mass keeps interiors at 24°C unassisted. The glazing disappears entirely into the stone reveal.
